Caring in Malaysia
- Chihuahuas have almost no insulation against heat. In Malaysia, keep them indoors in air-conditioned rooms, provide shaded flooring, and avoid hot pavements that can burn their small paw pads.
- Grooming is light: a weekly brush with a soft bristle brush for smooth-coated Chihuahuas, plus regular nail trimming. Clean the ears and brush teeth often, as dental problems start early.
- Watch for swelling or a soft spot on the skull, seizures or wobbling, which can signal hydrocephalus. Trembling, limping and low energy also warrant a prompt vet check.
