Caring in Malaysia

• Yorkies are small with a fine coat and little body fat, so they overheat fast in Malaysian humidity. Keep them indoors with air-con, and walk only early morning or evening.
• The long, silky hair needs daily brushing to prevent tangles, plus regular trims around the eyes and feet. Many owners keep Yorkies in a short puppy cut for easier upkeep.
• Check for limping or a skipping back leg, which can signal patellar luxation, and listen for coughing or gagging from a collapsing trachea. Frequent bad breath also needs a vet dental check.
