Chapter 5: Purebred, mixed breed, or local cat
Purebred cats often have predictable looks and traits, but they can also carry breed-specific health issues. Mixed-breed and local Malaysian cats, sometimes called kampung cats, are usually hardy and adaptable to our weather. Many are also calm and friendly once they trust you. Your choice depends on whether you want a specific appearance or a resilient companion. Adopting from a shelter or taking in a community cat is a practical option that also reduces overcrowding.
