Chapter 10: Monsoon, Rain and Thunder Safety

During the monsoon months, heavy rain and flash floods hit many Malaysian neighbourhoods. Keep your pet indoors when the weather turns, and dry them well afterwards to stop skin irritations in the humidity. Empty standing water around your home, as it collects mosquitoes that spread heartworm. Thunder can frighten pets, so set up a quiet corner with their bed and familiar toys, close the windows and curtains, and stay calm. If your pet hides or trembles for hours, ask your vet about calming aids.
