Chapter 8: Safe Outdoors: ID, Microchips and Licensing
Before letting your dog out in public, fit a collar with an ID tag carrying your phone number, and make sure its microchip details are registered and current. Many city and municipal councils in Malaysia require dogs to be licensed, and your vet can walk you through the paperwork during a routine check-up.
Keep cats indoors or on a balcony with secure screens. If one does slip out, search around your home at dawn and dusk when cats are most active, and let neighbours and local community groups know. Use a breakaway collar so a frightened cat can free itself if it gets caught on a fence.
