Chapter 6: Grooming, coat care and protecting paw pads

Regular brushing removes loose fur and helps you spot lumps, ticks or rashes early, which matters in humid weather when skin folds stay damp. Bathe your pet with a vet-approved shampoo as needed, dry the coat and between toes thoroughly, and check ears after baths or rainy walks. Keep nails trimmed so your pet walks comfortably, and inspect paw pads for cuts or peeling. After outdoor play, wipe paws to remove soil, grass seeds or any ant repellent residue from floors.
