Chapter 10: Understanding cat vocalisations
Cats rarely meow at each other; most meows are reserved for humans. Learn to tell apart the greeting trill, the demanding meow at feeding time, the low growl before a fight, and the drawn-out yowl older cats sometimes use at night. In Malaysia, cats in HDB corridors and landed estates also pick up outdoor noises, so record what your cat does at home to spot genuine changes in tone. Context matters more than any single sound.
