Chapter 5: Predatory play and hunting sequences

Hunting is a fixed sequence: stalk, chase, pounce, bite and shake. Domestic cats deprived of this outlet often redirect the behaviour onto ankles or birds at the window. Recreate the full sequence with wand toys, letting the cat catch and kill the toy at the end, then offer a small meal to complete the cycle. Rotate toy types weekly to prevent habituation. This is especially important in apartments where outdoor access is limited for safety.
