Chapter 10: Keeping your cat comfortable in the tropical heat

Malaysian weather is hot and humid all year, and most cats cope well as long as you manage their environment. Keep fresh water available in several bowls, run fans or air-conditioning during the hottest part of the day, and never leave a cat in a parked car or on a balcony without shade. Long-haired and flat-faced breeds may pant more easily, so watch for excessive drooling or lethargy. Provide cool tiled floors, damp towels to lie on, and trim heavy coats before festive travel. If your cat stops eating or hides constantly, see a vet promptly.
