Chapter 8: Paw pads, toes and monsoon care
During rainy spells, check your cat's paws after every trip to the litter tray or the porch. Litter, mud and rainwater collect between the toes and soften the pads, so wipe each paw dry and look for redness or small cracks. Trim the fur between the pads if it keeps catching litter and dirt. Cracked pads benefit from keeping the area dry and giving your cat a dry, clean surface to walk on. Avoid letting a wet cat sit directly on cold tiles for long periods.
