Chapter 10: Follow-up care after an emergency at home
After the crisis passes, your pet still needs close monitoring at home. Keep them warm, dry and calm, away from direct fan or air-conditioning blasts, and offer small amounts of water and bland food once vomiting has settled. Note breathing rate, appetite, energy and any swelling so you can share details with your vet during follow-up visits. Set reminders for medication, wound checks and dressing changes, since tropical humidity raises infection risk. Return to the clinic immediately if pain worsens, discharge turns yellow or green, or your pet stops eating.
