Chapter 9: CPR, resuscitation and recovery at home

If breathing stops after electrocution, near-drowning or severe trauma, place the animal on its right side, close the mouth and breathe into the nose or mouth until the chest rises. Give chest compressions over the widest part of the ribcage, alternating with breaths, and continue until professional help takes over. Recovery does not end at the clinic: follow the vet's medication schedule closely, watch for infection in the tropical heat and return for the follow-up check exactly as instructed.
