Chapter 8: Building an emergency kit and planning your route
Pack a grab-and-go kit near the door with gauze, adhesive tape, blunt scissors, a thermometer, saline solution, a spare leash and a recent photo of each pet. During floods, haze or sudden evacuations, this bag lets you leave quickly without searching room by room. Identify the nearest 24-hour animal hospital along your usual route and keep the clinic's number saved in your phone, because emergencies rarely happen at convenient hours. Practise lifting your pet into the car so the moment is not the first time you try.
