Chapter 8: Humidity and Ventilation at Home
Malaysian homes trap heat and moisture, and pets feel it. Aim for cross-ventilation: open windows on opposite sides during cooler hours, use fans, and run air-conditioning during hot afternoons if available — but avoid directing cold air straight at pets. In apartments, balconies can become heat traps; never leave pets on them unsupervised, and ensure windows and railings are pet-proof (cats fall from height far too often). Keep litter boxes and bedding away from damp corners, and use dehumidifiers or moisture absorbers in closed rooms if mould is an issue. Avoid strong cleaning chemicals and mosquito coils around pets; use vet-approved parasite control instead. Rotate bedding and wash it weekly. If your pet pants indoors at rest or seeks cool tiles constantly, review ventilation with your vet.
